Dear MSBA Members,
I am writing to you all again, in my capacity as the president of the Maine High School Mock Trial Program (MHSMTP). The competition is going to happen this year, albeit virtually. Our program's coordinator, Amanda Doherty, Esq., has been working very hard with the National Mock Trial Program, and all of the other state coordinators from around the country, to develop a unified program for the virtual competition. After a lot of hard work, we have the policies and procedures for the virtual competition.
However, as many of you may remember from my prior emails, over the past years, the MHSMTP is largely funded by donations. We have a few regular sources of funding, but not enough to make up the vast majority of our budget. Therefore, the MHSMTP depends on your generosity through financial contributions to help keep the program alive.
The MHSMTP was in dire shape a number of years ago and nearly dissolved due to funding issues. We are no better off today than we were then and so, your contributions are all the more important. While the MHSMTP is still in search of regular, recurring funding, we depend on individual contributions. At the moment, the Program needs to reach about $8,000.00 in funding for this year. No amount is too small and every last contribution makes a huge difference! The Program is also registered as a non-profit entity, giving you a tax benefit as well, through your contribution.
Any contributions can be sent to me, at the information in my signature line below, as well as any questions or comments that you may have. Please make checks out to the Maine High School Mock Trial Program, Inc.
This is a fantastic program for the high school students of Maine and has, in fact, been a program that has led individuals to pursue legal careers! Let's all band together and help keep this wonderful program alive and well.
Thank you in advance!
Very Truly Yours,
Ezra Willey, Esq.
