Judicial Evaluations
Share |

The Maine State Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee sends out surveys to all practicing lawyers in Maine to evaluate trial court judges in the second year of every judge's first term on the bench and the sixth year of every judge's term thereafter. The second-year evaluations are used to provide feedback to the judges. The sixth-year evaluations are used to make recommendations to the Board of Governors on whether the Association should support or oppose renomination of the judge.

These evaluations have resulted in meaningful changes through the years. The evaluated judges and the Maine Legislature's Judiciary Committee appreciate and value the MSBA's input. We are unable to provide input without your participation, so please take a few moments to provide feedback in this very important process when you next receive notification of a judicial evaluation.

The April 2017 evaluations include:

6th Year: Judge Gregory A. Campbell

6th Year: Justice G. Arthur Brennan and Justice John H. O'Neil, Jr.

The survey will close April 28, 2017.

If you have sufficient knowledge to evaluate any of these judges, we ask that you take a moment to complete the survey. Over the history of judicial evaluations in Maine, the results have been increasingly useful to judges, the MSBA Board of Governors and the Maine Legislature's Judiciary Committee. In order to maintain their validity and utility, your participation in the survey process is critical.
