MSBA Seeks Communications & Database Specialist

Job Title: Communications & Database Specialist


Reports To: Communications Director


Classification: Non-Exempt


Position Summary: Responsible for administration and maintenance of MSBA membership database and website. Serve as point person for staff and database/website provider on all issues relating to database and website.Support MSBA departments in efforts to acquire and retain members, and communicate with members and potential members, sections and committees. Statewide travel is required. Must have valid driver’s license.


Specific Duties:


Membership Database Duties

  • Responsible for database entry,including membership data, event creation and registrations
  • Maintain membership database, including building and rebuilding records, and creating and maintaining ad hoc reports
  • Serve as point person regarding database and website for staff and liaison to the database/website provider
  • Responsible for maintaining and producing committee and section reports, membership reports, email lists, county lists, billing and dues reports,and other miscellaneous reports
  • Produce mailing reports as requested by internal and external orders
  • Produce monthly Board of Governors reports on membership; review and report as needed on membership statistics


Website Duties

  • Update website with content exported from membership database
  • Assist Director of Communications with website and social media maintenance and up-to-date content
  • Assist Director of Communications and Communications Coordinator with production and distribution of The Supplement and all email blasts, including section communications, ensuring that branding is consistent and all content is relevant and accurate
  • Regularly update section/committee pages on website, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networking sites
  • Assist members with section/committee involvement, registration and communications
  • Monitor click-through rates and produce related reports
  • Monitor and support member communications and forums through YM software
  • Create and refine systems and interactive tools to manage and implement communications to members


Additional Duties

  • Serve as backup team member for receptionist
  • Assist in local and county bar outreach
  • Assist with preparation and execution of major CLE and MSBA events as needed
  • Assist with Board of Governors meeting preparation
  • Report education credits to Board of Overseers for MSBA events
  • Other duties as assigned



College degree required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


Knowledge, Skills And Other Abilities:

Experience with membership databases or equivalent experience using other types of databases, and:

  • Experience working with an association or membership-based organization
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office/In-design
  • High level of multi-tasking ability

  • High level of diplomacy and sensitivity when working with members and public
