MSBA Legislative Update January 8, 2010 LD 1668, "An Act to Implement the Recommendations of the Initiative to Streamline State Government." The Appropriations Committee voted unanimously to support LD 1668 "An Act to Implement the Recommendations of the Initiative to Streamline State Government." The biennial budget passed last session for FY10 and FY11 included $30,000,000 to be found by streamlining state government. The Appropriations Committee worked through the summer and fall to address the $30,000,000 streamlining requirement. LD 1668 is the result of their efforts and will now go to the full House and Senate for emergency action. The Appropriations Committee begins its public hearings on the Governor's supplemental budget addressing the expected $438,000,000 shortfall in revenues on Jan. 7 and will conclude the public hearings on Jan. 14. LD 1610 (silver alert program) – Public Hearing is January 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 436 of the State House. LD 1622 (laws governing the practice of law) – Public Hearing is January 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 438 of the State House. LD 1626 (unemployment compensation laws regarding vacation pay) – Public Hearing is January 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 220 of the Cross Office Building. LD 1631 (responsible recycling of consumer products) – Public Hearing is January 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 214 of the Cross Office Building. LD 1665 (paid sick leave) – Public Hearing is January 14, 2010 at 1:00 pm. in Room 220 of the Cross Office Building. LD 1707 (clarify requirements to foreclosures) – Public Hearing is January 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 427 of the State House.
