MSBA dues are calculated based on a member's first admission to any jurisdiction. The
period covered by annual dues follows the Association's fiscal year, October
1 through September 30.
Dues for the 2005 - 2006 fiscal year are as follows:
Standard Members
Attorneys in good standing, admitted to the practice of law, who either
reside or practice in the State of Maine.
First Year: $35.00*
Next Three Years: $100.00
Thereafter: $245.00
*Dues are waived for the first fiscal year if first admission to the Maine
Bar and member makes application during the same fiscal year.
Associate Members
Persons admitted to the practice of law in good standing who reside in the
State of Maine but are not engaged in the practice of law. Associate members
may be further defined as the Board of Governors shall determine.

Semi-Retired Members
Attorneys, in good standing, admitted to the practice of law, who reside or
practice in the State of Maine and who practice law no more than sixteen
(16) hours per week.

Non-Resident Members
Attorneys admitted to the practice of law, in good standing who neither
reside nor practice in the State of Maine.
$150.00
Judicial Members
Members of the Maine and Federal Judiciary who do not elect to be Standard
members.

Public Interest Members
Attorneys in good standing who are employed full time by a governmental
entity (Federal, State, County, Municipal); attorneys in good standing who
are working in a legal services organization; military attorneys; and
attorneys, including faculty, employed in a publicly supported law school or
university.

Student Members
Students, in good standing, enrolled in an accredited school of law.

Sustaining and Supporting Members
Supporting and Sustaining Membership categories permit MSBA members to make additional financial contributions to the Maine State Bar Association. As established by the MSBA's Board of Governors, an individual Sustaining Membership is $75.00 in addition to a member's regular dues, and an individual Supporting Membership is $50.00 in addition to a member's regular dues.
